Alex Gonzaga Survives COVID, Documents Journey in Vlog
Actress and vlogger Alex Gonzaga told her nearly 9 million YouTube subscribers on Saturday that her entire household, including her fiancé, battled COVID-19, reminding the public how it can be caught by ignoring what sould be second nature by now: wearing face masks and handwashing.
Gonzaga said the infection put her life on pause. She missed the premiere of her new noontime show and her wedding with her fiance, Mikee Morada. Her parents both tested her positive as did another woman in their house.
Hers is one of the most detailed accounts yet of celebrities who got the disease and overcame it. The pandemic is real, Gonzaga said.
"Andaming mga plano, andami ko gustong gawin hindi ako makapasok. May gusto akong gawing milestone sa buhay ko, madedelay birthday ni Seve," she said refering to her nephew. She said her sister Toni Gonzaga's family was unaffected.
"Once ka lang magtanggal ng mask. Once ka lang magpabaya, ang dami mong pwedeng maapektuhan," she said.
Gonzaga traced the outbreak in their home to a food order that broke their strict stay-at-home protocols. She did not elaborate.
In the video, Gonzaga documented their family's 14-day quarantine, during which they stayed in separate rooms, the doors shielded with plastic from floor to ceiling. She also experienced mild syptoms such as loss of taste, colds and vomiting. Her parents were asymptomatic.
