Auring Hits Land at Batag Island, Threatens Bicol
Tropical Depression Auring has made landfall over Batag Island in northern Samar on Monday, PAGASA said, as it urged people in the Bicol region to prepare for the storm.
Auring is forecast to "weaken considerably" after it slammed into Batag Island at around 9 a.m., and as it heads towards the Albay-Sorsogon area, PAGASA said.
The storm, which packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 55 kph is moving north, northwestward at 15 kph. As of 10 a.m., PAGASA said the center of Auring was spotted at 30 kilometers northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar.
Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1, which can cause slight damage to light structures, was raised over:
- Sorsogon
- Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands
- Albay
- Catanduanes
- eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Caramoan, Presentacion, Sagnay, Buhi, Iriga City, Nabua, Bato, Balatan)
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran

PAGASA warned of moderate to heavy rains over Northern Samar, Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, and Quezon. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Western Visayas, Aurora, Rizal, Samar, northern portion of Eastern Samar and the rest of MIMAROPA for Monday.
On Tuesday, PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains would likely prevail over Camarines Norte, Quezon, and Aurora, and light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Metro Manila, the rest of CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Camarines Sur, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Isabela, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Batanes.
