The distribution of cash aid or ayuda in Metro Manila is extended until Aug. 31, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said Wednesday, citing the request of mayors.

The extension, according to DILG Sec. Eduardo Año, was granted due to limited mobility and manpower for the distribution during the ECQ in the capital region. Metro Manila local government units were initially tasked to distribute ayuda from Aug. 11 until Aug. 25.

“The mayors also need more time to process appeals and grievances so it is justified for us to give an extension,” he said in a statement.

President Rodrigo Duterte authorized the distribution of P1,000 as cash aid with a limit of P4,000 per family in areas that were placed under ECQ this August.
