Sen. Bong Go on Wednesday urged those who are pushing him to run for president in the 2022 elections to consider him their last option for the position.
"Consider me last. I'm not interested to run for the presidency dahil alam kong mahirap ang trabaho," Go said during a midnight meeting of President Rodrigo Duterte with PDP-Laban members.
PDP-Laban officials on Wednesday met with Duterte to present petitions urging him to run for vice president next year.
Raul Lambino, the party's vice president for international affairs said leaders from Pangasinan were unanimous in calling for Go to run for president with Duterte next year.
Go said he was not inclined to run for president as he himself witnessed the difficulties of Duterte's job.
Go was among Duterte's options for a successor once the President steps down from office in June next year, Malacañang earlier said.
Go has been the President's trusted aide since he was mayor of Davao City. In 2019, he ran and won in the senatorial elections, placing third overall.
