Marcos Inauguration Fashion: What is the Inspiration, Symbolism?
President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will wear two Filipino-made barongs for his inauguration as the 17th leader of the Republic of the Philippines.
Both garmets were designed by Pepito Albert, who also made the terno of Marcos Jr.'s sister Irene.

For his oath-taking, Marcos Jr. said he would wear a barong inspired by the rayadillo -- the traditional uniform of Spanish colonial soldiers. His shoes were designed by Sapatero Manila.
Marcos Jr. said he would change into a different barong made by Albert in the town of Taal in Batangas for the inaugural dinner in Malacañang.
Taal, like the Marcos family's Ilocos bailiwick, is rich in Spanish colonial influence.
First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos meanwhile will wear a nude pink modern piña terno designed by Lesley Mobo. The dress is made of piña cloth and is embroidered with the Philippine national flower Sampaguita, according to Marcos Jr.
Their son, Congressman-elect Sandro Marcos will wear a barong made by Salvo Tailors while Marcos Jr.'s sister Irene will wear a yellow piña terno with a drape designed by Albert too.
Marcos Jr. is set to take his oath at noon at the National Museum--where three past presidents have held their inauguration as well. He succeeds Rodrigo Duterte, whose eldest daughter Sara was elected vice president.
