LOOK: Laguna Quarantine with 553 Beds Nearly Complete, Opening in September
A new quarantine facility in Calamba, Laguna that can isolate 553 COVID-19 patients will open as soon as early September, adding to the government's isolation capacity, the Department of Health said Friday.
The "mega quarantine" center is located at the CALABARZON Regional Government Center. It will have nurses stations, quarters for healthcare workers, and toilet and shower rooms for patients.
"As we ramp up our testing capacity, we are also increasing our bed capacity for isolation and quarantine. These two should go hand in hand,” Health Sec. Francisco Duque III said in a statement.
The government has a four-point strategy to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus: test, isolate, treat, and trace. The new facility would help address the isolate and treat steps to ensure that those with COVID-19 are prevented from infecting others while in recovery.
