Cebu Pacific, PAL Offer Refund, Rebooking for Non-Essential Travel

Local airlines offered passengers flying for non-essential reasons the option to rebook or refund their flights as the government imposed stricter limits for the next two weeks to tame rising COVID-19 cases.

Flight schedules for Cebu Pacific will remain the same until Mar. 24, however passengers looking to postpone flights due to the restrictions may do so.

Passengers can manage their bookings online up to two hours before their flight. Currently, the airline offers three options: unlimited rebookings at no extra cost, a travel fund that can store credit for up to two years, or a refund.

"We will provide updates on flights from March 25 to April 4 in the coming days as more information becomes available," Cebu Pacific said on their Facebook page.

Philippine Airlines

Passengers traveling for leisure will not be allowed on Philippine Airlines domestic flights to and from Manila from Mar. 22 to Apr. 4.
Affected passengers have the following options:

  • Convert your ticket to a travel voucher with 10% bonus and valid for up to 2 years, which must be requested on or before Jun. 30, 2021.
  • Avail of unlimited rebooking (no rebooking fee) until Dec. 31, 2021. If you will be completing your travel in the same booking class by Jun. 30, 2021 (or ticket validity, whichever comes first), there will be no fare difference charge.
  • Refund your ticket without penalties

"If you are already in a domestic destination and wish to return home, you may do so during this period," Philippine Airlines said in a Facebook post.

Returing Overseas Filipino Workers, Locally Stranded Individuals, or Autorized Persons Outside of Residence will be accepted on flights, provided that all requirements are secured with the respective local government units.

Bookings may be managed online on the Philippine Airlines website.

On Sunday, officials announced the ban of non-essential travel to and from Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, and Laguna starting Monday until Apr. 4 as daily cases hit the 7,000 mark for three days straight.

Seniors and minors were once again barred from leaving their homes and celebrations for the upcoming Holy Week were also limited.
