Ces Drilon is the Tweet on Debate Night for Zingers Like 'Dedma'

Former ABS-CBN anchor Ces Drilon was trending on social media Sunday for describing how Bongbong Marcos snubbed the Comelec presidential debate that she was moderating -- dedma.

Drilon used street slang as she explained why, with his absence, Marcos lost the opportunity to discuss his stand on corruption in government.

Susunod dapat ay si former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. pero hanggang ngayon, dedma pa rin siya sa imbitasyon ng Comelec," she said while the camera panned to the empty podium reserved for Marcos.

Dedma is a combination of the words "dead" and "malice", the literal translation of the Tagalog "patay malisya" which means to ignore or feign ignorance.

It was Drilon's first major appearance on national TV since her retrenchment from ABS-CBN after it's application for franchise renewal was denied in mid-2020.
