Claire dela Fuente, OPM Icon, Dead at 63

OPM icon Claire dela Fuente passed away on Tuesday with cardiac arrest as the immediate cause of death, her son said. She was 63.

Dela Fuente's son Gigo de Guzman confirmed the singer's passing to ABS-CBN News.

"Earlier this morning, my mom Claire dela Fuente passed away. Cardiac arrest," de Guzman said.

The singer, known for her hit "Sayang," was diagnosed with COVID-19 last week and was admitted to the hospital. She was also suffering from hypertension, diabetes, and anxiety, her son said.

Dubbed as the "Karen Carpenter of the Philippines," Dela Fuente was also given the title "Asia's Sweetest Voice." 

Her other hits include "Minsan-Minsan" and "Nakaw Na Pag-ibig."
