Colossal Cebu to Mactan Toll Bridge is Halfway Done, Builder Says

It's set to become a landmark in the Visayas.

An expressway bridge that will connect Cebu City to Mactan Island is halfway done, notwithstanding challenges brought about by COVID-19 quarantines, it's builder said Tuesday.

The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway or CCLEX costs P30 billion and runs between Cebu province's capital city and Cordova in Mactan Island, CCLEX said in a statement.

Once completed, it will treat up to 50,000 vehicles daily with a view of turquoise waters while avoiding traffic on the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge.

There should be "substantial completion" of the project by 2021, said its president and general manager, Allan Alfon.

Stay cables that will hold he bridge deck as well as the cross on top of the pylons were recently installed, CCLEX said.
