Converge Eyes Elon Musk's Space X for Broadband in Far-Flung Areas

Talk of a joint venture premature at this point.

Converge ICT said Monday it was exploring technology from Elon Musk's Space X to bring high-speed broadband to far-flung areas of the country.

The IT firm led by businessman Dennis Anthony Uy said it was "always looking for new technologies." However, a talk of partnership between Converge and Space X is "very premature" at this point.

"Converge assures the Exchange and its investors that it will promptly make the necessary disclosures should there be any material developments in its exploratory talks with possible partners," the company told the stock exchange.

Converge issued the disclosure in response to reports from the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Bilyonaryo website about a possible sattelite partnership.

"The latest satellite technologies, including that of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), are among those new technologies being explored by Converge to bring high-speed broadband to far-flung areas in the country," Converge said.
