Boracay Tourism Workers to Get Free Swab Tests

The initiative will cost P1.6 million.

Boracay tourism workers will get free RT-PCR testing from the government to help the industry restart faster from the COVID-19 pandemic, officials said. The island paradise is leading the way for the safe and sure ropening of resorts and hotels.

Over the weekend, Ilocos Norte and Anilao, Batangas announced their reopening to Luzon tourists.

"By supporting RT-PCR testing among workers in Boracay, the Department reiterates that safety is the unparalleled priority in reopening domestic tourism. We want restore confidence amongst travelers and protect their health and well-being as our tourism workers get their livelihood back," Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo Puyat said.

Testing and other measures to ensure the safety of tourist spots and its workers will hopefully encourage Filipinos to travel locally, she said.
