It's that time of the year again, when brands all over the world are given the free pass to prank the internet in the name of "customer service".
Condom brand Durex in Singapore went a week ahead of April Fools' Day (which falls on Holy Thursday for catholics), unveiling a new product range with new flavors, among them a fruit that is highly debated for its strong smell even in the Philippines—durian.
Durex called customers on Facebook to "rediscover what it means to love local".
Aside from Durian, called Mao Shan Wan in Singapore, the new condom flavors also come with Singapore Chendol (a shaved ice dessert comparable to Halo-Halo), and Botak Coconut Sherbet (coconut ice cream).
While Durex has yet to confirm if it's really a marketing prank, netizens who were quite familiar with the brand's history of April Fools antics were quick to piece it together.

A spokesperson from Durex told trade magazine Marketing Interactive that the execution is part of the company's mission to "get consumers to take action and spark conversations around a safer, healthier and more satisfying sex life".
"How were these flavors chosen? Is this an April Fool's prank? More delicious details coming on 1 April," the spokesperson said.
Durex also hinted at a giveaway to customers, asking them which among the flavors they are excited to try for a chance to win samples.
Comments were centered once more around the Durian debate, while the rest were suggestions on what flavors to come up with next, among them, "bubble tea".
