President Rodrigo Duterte has maintained the general community quarantine classification or GCQ for Metro Manila and several other areas through March, Malacañang announced Saturday.

Areas under GCQ from March 1-31 are:

  • Metro Manila
  • Apayao
  • Baguio City
  • Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Batangas
  • Tacloban City
  • Iligan City
  • Davao City
  • Lanao del Sur

The rest of the country will be under modified general community quarantine or MGCQ.

Duterte's economic managers had recommended a nationwide MGCQ, citing the need to revive the economy. But delayed vaccine shipments scuttled the eyed transition.
