Radio DZRH on Tuesday apologized to Vice President Leni Robredo over an erroneous report that claimed people were paid to join a motorcade in Northern Samar province in support of her presidential bid.

The station said it suspended its reporter who claimed without proper interviews or attribution that organizers of the pink caravan pocketed the money that was supposed to go to participants.

Robredo's supporters have been holding weekend motorcades since she filed her candidacy in October to drum up support for her presidential campaign.

The Vice President's spokesperson, Barry Gutierrez, accepted the apology from Chavez. Gutierrez earlier said Robredo's camp was condeming the false report "in the strongest terms".
