Actress Ella Cruz has been interviewed by Boy Abunda for his YouTube channel after her comment on history being "like chismis" or gossip, again going viral before the video premiere late Friday.
Cruz, who plays Irene Marcos-Araneta on "Maid in Malacanang", was seen crying in excerpts from the interview. Historians took exception at her "like chismis" comment as cases of abuse under the Marcos regime have been documented in court.
The full interview is set be released 6 p.m. Friday, according to Abunda's channel.
"Meron ba akong nagawa sa kanila. Para akong nakapatay, ah? Tinanong ko yung sarili ko saan ako nagkamali, anong nagawa kong mali. May nasaktan ba ako?" she said in the video teaser.
Hours before the release, "Boy Abunda" was the top trending topic on Twitter, as netizens criticized the celebrity host for giving Cruz a platform on his channel, which has over 1.7 million subscribers.
User @njytolentino in their viral tweet criticized Abunda's neutral approach to interviews as it supposedly "normalized the victim card and drama approach to evade accountability."
