Filipinos Back Duterte on COVID Response, Worry About Getting Sick: Survey
Filipinos support President Rodrigo Duterte's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and are worried at the same time about catching the disease, according to results of a Pulse Aisa survey released Thursday.
Based on a poll of 1,200 adults from Sept. 14 to 20, 92% said they approved of Duterte's actions to prevent the spread of the virus. It also showed that 97% were worried about getting sick with COVID-19.
A Pulse Asia poll during the same period showed that nine in 10 Filipinos approved of the 75-year-old leader's performance and had trust in him.

Cases of COVID-19 are going down and the country is slowly allowing businesses and public transportation to reopen in a bid to revive an economy in recession. However, the total infections still ranks among the 20 highest in the world according to Johns Hopkins University in the U.S.

Asked about the government as a whole, 84% said they approved of steps to control the spread of the virus while another 84% said they approved of steps to assist those who lost their livelihood to the pandemic.
