Fire Razes Storage Area of Pasig City General Hospital
A fire razed parts of the Pasig City General Hospital on Wednesday, prompting the staff to move 14 patients to other health facilities, Mayor Vico Sotto said.
The blaze, which started at the hospital's storage room, reached the third alarm at 11:09 a.m., the Bureau of Fire Protection said. Third alarm is the third lowest under an 11-step scale that determines the number of fire trucks that are required to respond.
The fire hit a stockpile of alcohol, which is highly flammable. No major equipment or supplies were hit, Sotto said. A CNN report citing the hospital administrator said no vaccines were damaged.
It was declared under control by the BFP at 1:25 p.m. and fire out at 3 p.m.
"Salamat sa Diyos walang nasaktan, pero nilipat muna ang 14 pasyente sa ibang pasilidad sa Pasig," Sotto said in a tweet.
The mayor also thanked Manila City Mayo Isko Moreno and the Medical City for offering to help transfer displaced patients.
