Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade said he would consider providing free rides for Filipinos to vaccination centers to encourage more people to get immunized.

Tugade was asked if he was willing to replicate the U.S. government's partnerships with ride-hailing platforms like Uber and Lyft to transport Americans for free to vaccination centers until July.

“Napakagandang programa niyan, pag-iisipan ko ‘yan," Tugade told Summit Sandwich Sessions.

“I am willing to support, provided that it is given the imprimatur and the guidance by the [Inter-Agency Task Force], by the Department of Health,” he added.

Tugade said the details and implementation guidelines for the free-ride program to vaccination centers must first be ironed out and finalized.

The Department of Transportation currently has a nationwide free-ride program for essential workers.
