Roque Says Boracay Trip Happened Before Staff Tested Positive for Virus
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday denied allegations that he broke COVID-19 protocols in his Boracay trip as he confirmed that one of his staff members tested positive for the virus.
Roque said he was in Boracay and Iloilo from Feb. 5 to 6. He said his staff who tested positive for the virus did not travel with him to the Visayas.
The Palace official made the clarification in response to questions in his whereabouts before he went on isolation as photos from his Boracay trip circulated on social media.
"Hindi po totoo yan. Kalokohan po yan," Roque said in a Palace briefing.
"Yung trip po to Visayas, hindi po, wala pa akong exposure doon at hindi ko po kasama sa Visayas yung staff ko na nag-positive," he said.
Roque said he and his staff were tested on Sunday and it was on that day that they found out that the aide was positive for the virus. Roque said he tested negative.
Roque has been conducting his regular Palace press briefings from his home since Monday even though he tested negative for the virus, saying he is isolating in adherence to government protocols.
