Robredo Among Liberals' Picks for 2022 Presidential Elections: Pangilinan
Vice President Leni Robredo is among the Liberal Party's picks for standard bearer in the 2022 presidential elections, said Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, the party head.
While Robredo, who chairs the LP, is an obvious choice, the party's pick has yet to be finalized, said Pangilinan.
"She herself said now wala siyang desisyon, marami pang pwedeng mangyari but in the meantime we just focus on how we can help address this pandemic and the economic crisis," he said.

Pangilinan highlighted Robredo's contributions to COVID-19 frontliners, vendors, consumers. He also cited the P70 million in aid that the vice president and Kaya Natin helped raise for victims of monster storms in 2020.
An online petition urging Robredo to run for president in the 2022 national elections made rounds on social media, and has garnered over 19,000 signatures as late Thursday.
A counter petition was also launched, "We don't like Leni as President," with some 40,000 signatories.
Pangilinan said "political issues can wait" as the party focuses on COVID-19. Since he took over as LP president in 2016, the party has been opening its doors to "ordinary people".
"Tayo sa LP, tuloy tuloy lang ang ating recruitment sa baba, pagtulong sa ating mga komunidad para malagpasan itong COVID. Hopefully if we are able to show a good performance then voters will remember that and will support us. 'Yun ang ginagawa natin sa ngayon," he said.
"Ultimately, 2022 is really all about voters," he said, urging the public to heed Comelec's calls to register so they can vote come next year.
