LRT-2 Antipolo, Marikina Stations to Open on June 22

The Marikina and Antipolo stations of LRT-2 East Extension will open on June 22, Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade said on Thursday.

Once fully operational, the trip from Recto in Manila to Antipolo in Rizal will take 40 minutes compared to an estimated three-hour trip via jeepney or bus. It can accommodate an additional 80,000 passengers daily.

Tugade led an inspection and trial run from Santolan to Antipolo station in preparation for its inauguration.

Originally set for April, the opening of the two easternmost stations was moved to June becuase of fresh COVID-19 restrictions.
