Facebook's resident gossipmonger Xian Gaza on Friday embraced his "Marites" title as he added a frame to his profile picture in support of Leni Robredo for president and Kiko Pangilinan for vice president.

Identifying himself as a "Marites for Leni Kiko" (Marites, a codename for spreader of gossip), Gaza said as a businessman based in the United Arab Emirates and in Thailand, he had nothing to lose should Robredo's rival, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. win.

Gaza said he was standing up for millions of marginalized Filipinos who could benefit so much from a Robredo leadership.

"Kahit si Sen. Bongbong Marcos ang maging pangulo, mananatili akong milyonaryong negosyante livin' the good life sa iba't-ibang bahagi ng mundo. I will gain nothing from VP Leni's win. Tumitindig ako not for my personal interest unlike ng Iglesia Ni Cristo," Gaza said on Facebook, where he has over 1 million followers.

"Ang pagtindig kong ito ay para sa mga Pilipino na nasa laylayan ng lipunan na ang buhay at kinabukasan ay heavily dependent sa performance ng ating gobyerno, kasama na dito ang milyung-milyong BBM supporters dahil ang laban na ito ay para sa bayan at walang pinipiling political color," he added.

Gaza also said that he was taking back a pronouncement he made three months ago, believing this time that Robredo has a "huge" chance of winning.

Gaza said that should his bet for the presidency loses, at the very least, he would remain proud for having stood up for what's right "despite all wrongs he has done".

"Kung sakali man na hindi siya palarin ngayong Mayo, at least kaya kong ipagmalaki sa lahat at sa aking mga anak na sa kabila ng mga nagawa kong pagkakamali sa buhay, once upon a time, si Xian Gaza ay tumindig para sa tama and that is something that I will never regret for the rest of my life," he said.
