Metro Manila Stays Under GCQ Until End of July 2021

Metro Manila will remain under general community quarantine or GCQ until July 31, Malacañang announced Thursday, the same day prevailing COVID-19 restrictions expire.

The capital region along with neighboring provinces Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal will be under regular GCQ while Laguna will stay under GCQ "with heightened restrictions."

Here are the community quarantine classifications for July 16-31 according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque:

GCQ with heightened restrictions

The relaxed community quarantine protocols in the capital will remain as the Philippines tightens its border control to avoid the spread of the feared COVID-19 Delta variant.

Travelers from Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman were prohibited entry from the Philippines until July 31.

So far, the Philippines has fully inoculated 3.5 million of its people, while 9.6 million have received their first doses.
