The Philippines on Monday logged fewer than 2,000 COVID-19 cases for the third day straight with 1,427 new infections, and setting a new record low for 2022.
Active cases stands at 58,657. The Department of Health also reported 79 deaths and 3,269 recoveries.
The positivity rate was at 7.5% meaning that for every 100 people tested, at least seven were infected with the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started in March 2020, the Philippines has in total confirmed 3,653,526 COVID-19 cases, including 3,539,106 recoveries and 55,763 deaths.
Metro Manila is under Alert Level 2, the second lowest under the five-tier quarantine classification system until Feb. 28. Authorities are preparing for the possible declaration of Alert Level 1 as daily number of cases goes down.
