8,292 COVID Cases Tallied, Lowest Since Early August

The Philippines on Monday logged 8,292 additional COVID-19 infections, the lowest since August.

The day's tally brought active cases to 98,894. The Department of Health also reported 302 new recoveries and 36 deaths.

Cumulative cases since the panedemic began is now at 2,674,814, of which 2,536,260 have recovered and 39,624 died.

On Aug. 2, the country recorded 8,167, cases which increased to more than 10,000 daily in the succeeding weeks. The record-high of 26,303 cases was recorded on Sept. 11.

Metro Manila's Alert Level 4 status is expected to end on Oct. 15, the same day vaccination of minors aged 12 to 17 years old is set to start. The Philippine Food and Drug Administration earlier cleared Pfizer and Moderna for use on the younger population.

Minors with comorbidities will be prioritized, according to the DOH.
