LOOK: Pampanga Giant Lantern Festival Defies Pandemic
It wouldn't be a Pinoy Christmas without parols dotting streets and homes once December rolls in. They shine bright all over the country, but especially in San Fernando, Pampanga, where both foreign and local visitors flock annually for its giant lantern festival.
Quarantine restrictions discourage mass gatherings, but organizers are doing their best to deliver a light show at Robinsons Starmills Pampanga so you can still watch safely.
Those who want to see the giant lanterns upclose can pre-register online and head over to the 2nd floor near Robinsons Movieworld of Robinsons Starmills Pampanga.
The Giant Lantern Festival runs from Dec. 17 to Jan. 3 and will be a drive-in only event. No walk-in guests are allowed and wearing of face masks and shields is strictly implemented.
Starting Dec. 18 until Dec. 20, shows will run at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. From Dec. 21 until Jan. 3, a show will be held at 5:30 p.m. only. Take note that there will be no shows on Dec. 24 and 31.
Despite pandemic woes, seven barangays prepared colorful and intricate lanterns for this year's nightly display: Bulaon, Calulut, Sto. Niño, San Nicolas, Sta. Lucia, San Juan, and Telabastagan.
If quarantine restrictions keep you from flying to the province, you can watch the show from the comfort of you own home via online channels.
