Vico Sotto Shares Peek At Pasig City's Socialized Housing Site Plan
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shared the city’s proposed plans for a socialized housing building for residents living in danger zone.
In a Twitter post, Sotto shared the look and said the city’s non-COVID programs would still resume even during the pandemic.
Sotto clarified that he didn’t promise housing for everyone, as it is currently not possible. “Walang relokasyon at walang demolisyon, hangga't hindi maayos ang paglilipatan at magiging makatarungan ang sistema... Walang palakasan sa pagpili ng benipisaryo,” his post said.
Pasig residents in danger zones, such as floodways, would be given priority for the soon-to-rise socialized housing site. “Hangad nating mabigyan sila ng pabahay na ligtas, marangal, at kung saan may malaking potensyal sila para itaas ang antas ng kanilang pamumuhay,” Sotto said.
The buildings and site would have a stable structure, water, electricity, and located near health services centers, schools, and workplaces, he said. Those not very familiar with housing may be surprised at how often these basic needs aren't met,” he added.
On June 28, Sotto inspected the site of the socialized housing buildings and mentioned that several thousand families would have to be relocated.
