Water Hyacinths on Pasig River Halt Ferry Operations
The service will return once the water plants are cleared.
The Pasig River Ferry Service suspended operations on Wednesday due to the high volume of water hyacinths that make it impassable, authorities said.
The floating plants caused "navigability constraints." To ensure the safety of the riding public, the ferry will resume once the river becomes passable, the MMDA said.

Last week, water hyacinths choked a portion of the river under Quezon Boulevard bridge in Quiapo Manila. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources said the symptom of water pollution can be attributed to fertilizer runoffs from aquaculture farming and domestic waste.
