NEW RECORD: Philippines COVID Cases Jump 22,366 in One Day
Cases continue to rise.

The Philippines on Monday recorded 22,366 new COVID-19 cases, a new record high single-day tally, as authorities started implementing street-level lockdowns.

This beats the previous record logged on Aug. 29 with 18,258 COVID-19 cases. The day's tally brought the number of active cases to 148,595 and the cumulative total since the pandemic began to 1,976,202.

There were 222 new deaths and 16,864 recoveries, bringing the totals to 33,330 and 1,794,278 respectively.
Metro Manila is under MECQ, the second strictest community quarantine classification until Sept. 7 with some areas under granular or street-level lockdowns.
