Phivolcs' New Mobile App Keeps You Updated on Volcanoes
To make monitoring volcanoes easier and more accessible, Phivolcs has launched a mobile app that delivers the latest updates on the most active volcanoes in the Philippines.
The app "VolcanoPH" is available on android phones, and delivers 24-hour observation data of volcanoes from Phivolcs scientists.
According to Phivolcs, the app "will help the users to understand the current volcano status, and to identify the necessary preparedness and response actions for their safety."
“We aim to provide the users with accessible and easy-to-read information,” Phivolcs director Renato Solidum Jr. said in a statement.
The homepage of the app features a list of volcanoes with their corresponding alert levels. After clicking on a particular volcano, users will be provided with a summary of the 24-hour observation data including alert level, monitoring parameters, and recommendations in the Filipino language.
Phivolcs said it is working to make the app available on iOS soon and to include an English language setting.
