LOOK: This is What the New Normal Movie Theater Looks Like

Proof of life slowly going back to normal in areas under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) are cinemas at SM City Taytay that are scheduled to reopen on Oct. 14.

As province east of Metro Manila recently shifted to the lowest quarantine, the shopping mall will accept patrons in its moviehouses for the first time since March 17, according to branch manager Charmaine Sucaldito.

Last August, Festive Walk Mall in Mandurriao, Iloilo City was the first to reopen its indoor cinemas since the COVID-19 quarantine started. Theaters were allowed to operate at 50-percent capacity after the city's restrictions were downgraded to MGCQ in June.

Prior to the quarantine, SM City Taytay's moviehouses had a maximum seating capacity of 330 people. After complying to the two-seat gap, that number will go down to 114 or 35 percent. There will be a total of three screenings per day: 11 a.m., 2 or 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Sanitation is scheduled before doors open and every after movie, while the lobby and CR are being cleaned every 30 minutes. Safety protocols such as temperature checks, social distancing, and disinfection areas are also implemented. Face masks and face shields are mandatory.
