After revealing she voted for Leni Robredo as next Philippine President, a clip of beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach's winning Binibining Pilipinas 2015 answer resurfaced Wednesday, igniting talk of foreshadowing and a "friendly reminder" against fake news.
WHAT WENT BEFORE: Pia Wurtzbach Votes for Leni Robredo via Absentee Ballot in UAE
n the now-viral clip on Facebook, Robredo's supporters took notice of how it was then-Congresswoman Robredo who asked the crucial question that brought "Binibini no. 10" Wurtzbach to the Miss Universe stage.
In the final list of candidates for president in the upcoming elections, Robredo was the tenth candidate on the ballot.
"Social media is now a very powerful tool of communication. Can you tell us your thoughts about internet censorship?," Robredo is seen asking Wutzbach in the video.
The Filipina-German, then on her third and final attempt at the Binibining Pilipinas-Universe crown, replied, "I think that we should be careful with our thoughts online, especially our thoughts and our opinions, that we don't hurt anybody, especially selfies. We have to be careful with what we post especially with our bodies and our faces, so always think before you click."
In 2015, when Wurtzbach ended the country's 42-year drought for a third Miss Universe crown, Robredo was also embarking on her own uphill campaign for the vice presidency.
Netizens also noted how during the Q&A portion, co-hosting with actor Xian Lim, who introduced Wurtzbach, was actress and host Toni Gonzaga, who is among the top endorsers of Robredo's rival, dictator son Bongbong Marcos, Jr.
"A Friendly reminder from BBP Candidate No. 10: Always think before you click. Holy Week na sis, sana magnilay-nilay muna sa pagkakalat ng kasamaan at fake news. Sa nalalapit na halalan, always think before you shade. Number 10 naman ngayon sa balota," the caption posted by Robredo supporter page, "Dapat si Leni" read.
