PSA: VP Leni Robredo Has a Podcast Now
Vice President Leni Robredo has launched her own podcast, bringing her closer to a younger audience as she ponders over a presidential candidacy in 2022.
The Spotify podcast is a "safe space" where listeners can expect the 56-year-old leader to be candid about her life as a woman and a mother, Robredo said.
"The conversations we have make up a big part of who were are," Robredo said in the teaser, noting how this channel of her talking to people will be "relaxed, casual, and in-depth".
Robredo is the Philippines' top opposition figure and is currently among those poised to run for the presidency next year. The launch of her podcast is seen as a relevant move to get in touch with younger audiences whose collective voting power could very well elect President Rodrigo Duterte’s successor.
Before starting her own podcast, Robredo was a guest in other podcast shows such as Wake Up and Jim and Saab, which had her in two episodes in the past year upon the request of audiences.
The favorable response she earned to such guestings may be proof of how the vice president's words have weight for the particular medium's generally young audience.
“In this space, relax lang, puwedeng sumandal at tumawa. Safe space kung saan puwede tayong magpakatotoo. Kaya halika, magkuwentuhan tayo,” the vice president said.
