Shhh... Stop Gaming, How QC is Helping Students in Online Classes

No games, no karaoke, just pure concentration.

Slow internet during online class hours getting on your nerves? Try cutting unnecessary data consumption, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte advised her constitutents Tuesday, as learners and teachers settled into the new normal with their gardgets. Neighbors should also keep quiet during study hours.

Internet activities that slow connections include video streaming, downloading heavy content, and playing online games, Belmonte said. The city government is set to install 1,000 free WiFi access points around the city, where students have an hour to connect to the Internet for free, she said.

The mayor ordered barangays to monitor activities that can distract students from remote learning like karaoke AND loud music, saying the new normal requires "community cooperation."

"Online classes are challenging not just for the students, but also for the teachers and parents who are helping them. That is why we appeal for cooperation from all residents and support the learning of the children," said Belmonte.
