SSS Is Offering a 20,000-Peso Calamity Loan Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

Registered members of the Social Security System (SSS) can avail of up to P20,000 calamity loan during the COVID-19 pandemic, an official said on June 23.

SSS Media Affairs Team Head Maria Cecilia Mercado encouraged members to apply for the loan online or via the SSS mobile app.

“Ito po yung ating calamity loan assistance program para po sa ating pong mga COVID-19 victims po na miyembro ng SSS. Ito po ay binuksan natin simula ng June 15,” Mercado said in a Teleradyo interview.

You don’t need to be infected with COVID-19 in order to claim the loan, Mercado clarified.

The program is available nationwide, and all registered members can apply.

In order to avail of the loan, the member must have updated contributions and must have at least 36 contributions in the past 6 months. Applications will be accepted until September 14, 2020.

Only those who have not applied for retirement loans or total disability benefits can claim the calamity loan.

Deadline for contributions has been extended to June 30.
