SSS tells Members: Don't Fall for Online Fixers

Online fixing is punishable by fine or imprisonment.

The Social Security System on Thursday warned its members against fixers and fake social media accounts, that take advantage of the public during the pandemic.

The agency reminded its members that all digital applications and transactions should be made only through My.SSS accounts via its official website (sss.gov.ph) and mobile application. Enlisting the help of online fixers is against the law.

What do these online fixers do?

The fixers offer to create accounts, file benefits, and facilitate the early release of loan applications and retirements benefits for certain fees, according to the SSS. Soliciting confidential information is illegal, it said.

Online fixers can be fined up to P5,000 or imprisoned for not less than six months up to one year.

To report any suspicious activity, email the SSS Special Investigation Department (fid@sss.gov.ph) or message its official Facebook page (Philippine Social Security System), Twitter account (@PHLSSS), and Instagram account (@mysssph).
