The National Museum Reopens March 2, Here's What You Need to Know

The National Museum of the Philippines is set to reopen its doors to the public on Tuesday, March 2, as the country transitions to the "new normal" roughly a year since lockdowns were declared to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the National Museum of National History will accept visitors again starting Tuesday while the National Planetarium will remain closed until further notice.

Here's what you need to know if you're planning to visit:

What are the visiting hours?

Visitors can see the National Museum from Tuesdays to Sundays, excluding religious holidays, with a morning session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.,  and an afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cut-off times for each session is at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.

For each museum building, a 100-person limit will be observed.

Who can visit?

Persons aged 15 to 65 including those with disabilities can visit the National Museum as long as they bring an ID or other proof of age.

How to visit?

Interested visitors need to pre-book online at least a day before their intended visit at http://reservation.nationalmuseum.gov.ph. Confirmation will be sent via email.

Visitors are reminded that group reservations are limited to five people only and walk-in visitors will not be granted admission.

What are the safety protocols?

Visitors need to undergo a temperature scan and those with temperatures of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher will be denied entry as well as those with flu-like symptoms.

Filling up a health declaration form is a must as well as the wearing of face masks and face shields. Visitors can bring their own alcohol, tissue, and other sanitizing materials too.

The following items are meanwhile prohibited in the museum:

• Art materials other than pencils
• Bags larger than 33x43 cm
• Backpacks, baby backpack carriers, long umbrellas, bulky items
• Food and drink
• Plants, flowers, or other organic materials
• Tripods and video cameras
• Wrapped packages
• Pets
• Guided tours
