WATCH: SPED Teacher Turns Storage Room Into Classroom Using Own Money
A special education teacher in Zamboanga del Norte recently went viral after he transformed a simple storage room into a classroom, using money from his own pocket to make remote learning as comfortable as possible.
Cyrell Jones Sidlao of Buyos Elementary School in Sindangan town, has a knack for teaching children with learning difficulties. He goes the extra mile and finds ways to keep his students engaged.
In the latest challenge brought by the pandemic where resource-strapped teachers like him are pushed to a greater disadvantage, Sidlaw took it upon himself to renovate a storage room with P20,000 from his own pocket.
"Kasi if you're a SPED teacher, you will [have] to do something na yung mga learners mo magiging komportable sila, pagpasok nila mae-excite sila, at hindi sila madidistract," he told Summit Originals.
"Ibang-iba kasi siya sa pagiging regular teacher..It's really quite challenging. But the good thing is 'pag marunong na sila with a certain lesson, super fulfilling po talaga," he told Summit Originals.
