Top Google Searches in 2020: Dalgona Coffee Beats Face Masks

Quarantined in their homes indefinitely because of COVID-19, Filipinos killed time perfecting dalgona coffee for their social media page, making the food fad the top search item on Google in 2020.

Aside from "how to make dalgona coffee," Filipinos also Googled  "how to wear a surgical mask" in a pandemic year that flipped life as we know it. All that stress eating also spawned the third top how to search, "how to compute BMI."

Dalgona coffee, made with whipped coffee powder, sugar, and water on top of milk was an Instagram staple during the summer, when the nationwide quarantine started, and will likely stay in some form until 2021.

Search trends in the Philippines also proved that food is supreme with more Filipinos googling "how to make leche flan" and "how to make pancakes" than "how to prevent COVID-19."

In terms of current events, Filipinos were all eyes on the U.S. election which saw Democrat Joe Biden beat President Donald Trump.

The "US election 2020" topped the overall searches in Google this year followed by "NBA score" and "coronavirus."
