Auring, Storm no. 1 for 2021, Enters Philippine Area of Responsibility

Tropical Depression Auring entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday, PAGASA said, as southern provinces braced for the first storm of the year.

Auring was monitored inside PAR at around 8 a.m., on course to make landfall over Caraga region this Saturday evening or Sunday morning as a Tropical Storm, the state weather bureau said in its latest weather bulletin. 

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph with 55 kph gusts.

One a tropical cyclone is inside the PAR, PAGASA is reponsible for notifying its peer weather bureaus in the region. No storm signal warning has been raised yet but affected areas can expect it by Friday, it said.

Pagasa: Auring's track as of 11 am, feb. 17. 

Pagasa advised residents of flood-prone and landslide-prone areas in in the Visayas, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Cotabato, and Lanao del Sur to prepare.
