U.S. Donates 100 Ventilators to Philippines in Boost to COVID Fight

Ambassador Kim says the Philippines is a partner and ally.

The United States donated 100 ventilators to help the Philippines fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Washgton's top envoy to Manila, Sung Kim said.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Health Secretary Francisco Duque received the donations in Malacanang on Friday.

The Philippines on Friday confirmed 3,999 COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 209,544.  President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to decide soon on current quarantine classifictions that are good only until Aug. 31.
