Vico Shuts Landers Grocery for Social Distancing Violations

Restaurant, barbershop, plant shop, pharmacy, and parking lot may remain open.

Patrons of Landers Ugong have to find other supermarket options for at least a week. Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto ordered the temporary closure of the store's grocery section for failing to implement social distancing and other precautions required during the COVID-19 quarantine.

Landers' restaurant, barbershop, plant shop, pharmacy, and parking lot can continue operating while the main grocery is shut, Sotto said. This means you can still do some errands done if you're in the area.

"Usually when we suspend businesses for this reason, we don't announce the name. We don't want them to have bad publicity; we just want their customers to be safe," he wrote on Facebook. "But this is a big business, so you will probably hear (about) it anyway."

Operations are suspended from July 21 to 27 for violation of the General and Health Guidelines (Section 2 of Executive Order PCG-25) "on the resumption of operations of allowable establishments, businesses, sectors, and industries during the MECQ (modified enhanced community quarantine)."
