Voter registration will be suspended starting Oct. 31 and resume on Nov. 3 in observance of All Souls’ and All Saints’ Day, the Commission on Elections announced Thursday.
All Offices of the Election Officer nationwide will be closed during this time.
Starting Nov. 9, voter registration will be from Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Back in September, registration ran from Tuesday to Saturday.
The COMELEC said it was necessary to shift to the regular weekday schedule to make way for the Saturday disinfection in all OEOs nationwide as part of the commission’s efforts to minimize the risk of COVID-19.
Wearing of face masks and face shields is mandatory and all offices will run on limited capacity to accommodate social distancing. Applicants are urged to bring their own pens.
