All cemeteries in the country will be closed from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 to prevent crowding and minimize superspreader events during Undas, Interior Sec. Eduardo Año said in comments released Wednesday.
The public can visit cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria at 30% capacity before or after those dates, Año told President Rodrigo Duterte in a meeting taped late Tuesday. Visits will be limited to 10 persons per group.
He also instructed local government units to pass ordinances to implement the policy and to ensure peace and order.
Metro mayors earlier agreed to restrict cemetery visits for Undas to avoid mass gatherings.
