Religious leader Apollo Quiboloy has landed on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's most wanted list for alleged human trafficking, U.S. authorities said.
The self-proclaimed "Appointed Son of God" and pastor of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ has rejected the allegations and warned the world that more coronavirus variants like omicron would emerge unless people stop "persecuting" him.
According to the FBI, Quiboloy is accused of participating in a labor trafficking scheme that brought church members to the U.S. using fradulent visas so that they could gather donations for a bogus charity. The FBI said the donation money was actually used to finance church operations and the "lavish lifestyles" of its leaders.
Quiboloy has been reported to travel via private jet and his KJC is headquartered on a hilltop compound in Davao. He also owns Sonshine Media Network International, which airs his sermons and most recently acquired one of the free TV frequencies held by ABS-CBN Corp.
Members from the Philippines who move to the U.S. are forced to enter to sham marriages, according to the FBI, so that they could continue collecting donations.
An arrest warrant was issued against Quiboloy on Nov. 12, 2021, the FBI said, noting the pastor's ties to Calabasa, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Kapolei, Hawaii.
