Boracay will reopen to tourists by Oct. 1, ABS-CBN News quoted Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat as saying on Wednesday. Visitors need to present proof that they tested negative for the coronavirus 48-72 hours before travel.
The Philippines' tourism centerpiece had been operating inside a bubble since June, open only to neighboring Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Bacolod and Iloilo. Some 199 hotels are allowed to operate, Puyat said, according to ABS-CBN.
