Fully vaccinated tourists can visit Boracay island without a negative RT-PCR test result, local authorities said Tuesday as the Philippines prepares to reopen the country to international travelers this month.
Travelers who have completed their COVID-19 vaccine doses can visit Boracay as long as they present their vaccine card or certification, Aklan Gov. Florencio Miraflores said in an executive order.
Only unvaccinated and partially vaccinated travelers will be required to present a negative RT-PCR test result, Miraflores said.
Boracay reinstated the RT-PCR test rule in January due to the surge in COVID-19 infections driven by the more contagious omicron coronavirus variant. The Philippines in the past few days however has been seeing a decline in virus infections.
Curfew in Boracay island was also shortened to just three hours or from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. starting Wednesday, Feb. 2.
