Bishop Broderick Pabillo, the former caretaker of the Archdiocese of Manila, will transfer to Palawan following his appointment by Pope Francis, according to an official notice.
Pabillo has been appointed as the new bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay in Palawan province, the Manila archdiocese said .
Prior to his new appointment, Pabillo served as apostolic administrator of the archdiocese of Manila for more than a year after former Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle left for Rome to serve as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
During his stay in Manila, Pabillo was known to be vocal in his criticism of government policies.
Pabillo's new appointment was announced by the Pope just days after the installment of Archbishop of Manila Jose Cardinal Advincula.
