Drag Race Philippines on Thursday dropped its first teaser for the local version of drag legend Ru Paul's hit reality show, inspired by no less than the queen of the country's roads: the Filipino Jeepney.
Main host Paolo Ballesteros, who went viral worldwide for his makeup transformations, opened the promo video wearing an outfit featuring the colors of the Philippine flag.
"All roads lead to Drag Race Philippines!" Ballesteros said in the video, which featured the 12 competing drag queens.
The 12 drag queens used iconic jeepney lingo as they strut their stuff, saying lines such as "barya lang po sa umaga", "bayad muna bago baba", and "God knows JUDAS not pay."
Telling the contestants to "buckle up, mga vakluh", Ballesteros noted that "It's going to be a bumpy ride for the crown."
World of Wonder, the producer of Drag Race Philippines, earlier introduced TV host Kaladkaren and Filipino-American celebrity Jiggly Caliente as permanent judges, bringing trans representation to the local adaptation of the hit series.
Drag Race Philippines premieres on Aug. 17.
